Drawing land-map of a sustainable society
The First International Conference of Design for Sustainability (Destination 2006-2026) was held in December 2006. In the last year’s venue, it attracted more than 260 attendees and we had discussed possibilities, obstacles, and our actions to achieve a sustainable society.
This year, we move away from Tokyo to Shirakawa-Go, one of the Japanese World Heritage sites in a snowy mountainside of Gifu Prefecture, and re-examine the road map to such society, as well as a creation of a land map of sustainable society.
A Summary report, "Sustainable Japan (tentative title)" outlining findings from the workshop will be presented at the G8- Summit which is scheduled to be held in Toyako, Japan in July 2008.
